  • Supply Network Collaboration enables business process collaboration with suppliers. The following are the primary collaborative processes enabled

    • Supplier Inventory collaboration gives suppliers access to the manufacturers stock situation so that the supplier takes the responsibility for the replenishment.
    • Supplier order collaboration enables document exchange with suppliers over the web and in automated standards based exchange using XML.
    • Outsourced Manufacturing collaboration provides the manufacturer continued visibility and control of the orders and inventories associated with the outsourced products.  SAP offers the manufacturer the ability not only to see the production progress of their orders, but to proactively and collaboratively manage issues which may arise with their external partners before they start to impact customers and product availability.
    • Engineering Collaboration enables sharing of any kind of files including drawings between manufacturers and suppliers with detailed authorization and notification capability. This allows them to engage in multiple design and related procurement activities such as design collaboration, defect reporting and resolution, and master data management
    • Enables lean or pull-based processes using Kanban which allows customers to electronically issue KANBAN replenishment signals to the supplier either via the web, XML or EDI. The supplier can determing requirements through the web or their own systems and is proactively alerted to exception situations such as a new emply KANBAN and can respond using advanced ship notifications or ASN's.

Release Processing means the receiving of Scheduling Agreement Releases/Delivery Schedules from a customer side ERP system, for visibility and access of these material requirements from the point of view of a Supplier. The supplier can compare release updates and create subsequent ASN message to indicate shipment of goods.

Supplier Managed Inventory Processing is a replenishment process were the Supplier assumes responsibility of the replenishment planning and execution, instead of the Customer (or Customer's ERP/MRP system). The Supplier recieves updates on gross demand (dependent requirements) and stock in SAP ICH, and uses min/max stock level logic to calculate a suitable replenishment plan, and consequently creates PO's and ASNs to indicate plan commitment and shipments, which updates the Customer's ERP system accordingly.

Supplier Order CollaborationSAP Component or Feature Available

Supplier collaboration provides a cost-effective way for suppliers to connect to a number of processes along the supplier relationship lifecycle. Using a Web browser, suppliers can access a centralized hub for all supplier-related activities. Before beginning collaborative activity with any supplier, companies want to register and qualify the prospective vendor. By allowing suppliers to self-register, companies are relieved of an administrative burden while still benefiting from having the supplier's contact and product information on hand. Interested suppliers can register for offering goods or services by filling in an online application form. Suppliers are also allowed to manage their user address and contact data themselves.

Order collaboration capabilities provide suppliers with a streamlined order management system, a user friendly interface and comprehensive search options. Outbound purchase orders are sent to the order management system, where suppliers can view, change, respond, print and download the orders.

All subsequent communications relating to a purchase order, such as acknowledgements, confirmations and invoices are exchanged electronically.
