This process analyzes the supplier base to identify suppliers that are qualified to participate in a bidding or contract negotiation project. This includes evaluating past supplier performance based on technical and business criteria.

This process manages the bidding and contract negotiation process, contract award, and contract maintenance. Shorter sourcing cycle times can be reached by using a variety of electronic auction and bidding techniques.

Requests for information (RFI), requests for proposal (RFP), or requests for quotation (RFQ) for the entire project or a specific piece of equipment, material, or service can be published to preselected suppliers or the public.

When contract negotiations are completed, purchase orders for parts of the asset project, a specific piece of equipment or a services job are issued. After work execution, suppliers confirm milestones or submit notification of hours worked and materials used. An electronic workflow is available to manage the approval process for the notification. After the invoice has been approved and received, the payment process can be triggered.

This process integrates all documents, including text, graphics, CAD, and Office documents, in work processes and makes them available at any time throughout the life-cycle of an asset.

During the construction process, budgets need to be allocated, the amount spent against budget monitored, and budget overruns avoided. For financial accounting purposes, the project may be classified as "asset under construction."

This process supports the electronic procurement of equipment, materials and services for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO). It enables companies to use electronic parts books and catalogs to speed up material and service selection. It is possible to conduct the complete requisition to payment process electronically.
