Before claims are paid out, the field sales representative validates current promotions at the retailer to see if they are, in fact, in place and at the appropriate price. The representative also checks for distribution, placement and regular pricing conditions. In addition, it is his responsibility to gather information regarding the activities of competitors, especially regarding promotion execution in the store when competitors are running promotions concurrently with those of the representative's company.  Upon validation, claims and payments can be made.  Trade Claims Management provides a central repository of claims (invoices, deductions, scheduled payments).  There is a form–based claim validation with full deduction management capabilities, including charge-back and write-off processing.  Plus, it has full integration into Trade Funds Management, Trade Promotion Management and ERP Financials and Dispute Management.  Like trade funds management, Trade Claims Management allows for the tracking of claims against trade promotions, to gain more insight into promotional spending.  In this respect, because of promotional and claim validation, organizations only have to pay for valid promotions.

Period End Rebates and Write-OffsSAP Component or Feature Available
Period end rebates and write-offs provide manufacturers with the ability to finalize lump sum amounts of money at the end of promotions without having to go through entire claims process. This ability saves time and creates less complication for usually minimal amounts of money that need to be finalized.

Promotion Validation involves field sales representatives validating that retailers are properly executing trade promotions.  A properly executed trade promotion could include, but not limited to, giving the correct discount during the right time period and using displays that the manufacturer has authorized.  Promotion validation is key because by validating the execution of trade promotions, manufacturers only pay for promotions that were executed per manufacturer-retailer agreements.
