This Business Scenario Map demonstrates the integrated and fully automated process of MSDS-, Label- and Transport- Paperwork Management. Today´s highly developed production process allows very short time to market. Companies are able to produce and distribute customer tailored products as for example animal feed or chemicals within two to three days. The paperwork that is required with every new composition (MSDS, Label, Tremcards, SOP) needs on the other hand often more than 14 days until it is validated. Main common problem for companies is the required time to generate legal required paperwork.
SAP EH&S can easily play it´s advantages based on the integration into the logistic chain. From incoming order to distribution of the composition the material linked substance database, supported by automated classification tools allows to reduce the paperwork cycle down to three days as well.

Hazardous Substance Management for Customer Tailored ProductsReduced reaction time to handle specific customer requirements is often the key factor for market success. The reduction is based on the ability to check the compositions automatically against legally allowed limits and the automated creation of all required papers and labels. The customer orders a new animal feed composition for a specific use by sending an order document to his supplier. The specification will be used by the producer for the preparation of the composition in a recipe. The link between the material data (MM) and the substance data (EH&S) gives immediate access to all relevant substance data. If necessary, specific national or international legal compliance, for example on given limits/restrictions, are checked automatically in this process in order to speed up the validation process. Parallel to the placement of the internal production order in the SAP R/3 system, necessary product safety documents are created. SAP EH&S includes the expert tool to calculate, for example the classification based on the components. Other rules set allow at the same time the automated generation of legally required documents such as MSDS or labels. In the next step the generated documents are validated and released (by different departments if necessary) using the workflow functionality. Labels are designed and printed from the same data source without re-entering the data. Tools for high volume printing supports just in time generation during production. The automated distribution and redistribution of MSDS to the customers is part of the logistics chain. Due to the direct integration with the Sales&Distribution module (SD) customer data is stored without redundancy. The MSDS are send before the actual shipment of the product and the correct language of the documents are determined automatically using SD data. The automated redistribution of new released MSDS, is a huge benefit - for example when the classification has changed. In the final process steps all required documents for transportation and invoicing (delivery note, Tremcard, invoice etc) are generated just in time, triggered in Sales&Distribution. Automated dangerous goods checks ensure that the legal compliance according to (all) transport regulations are fulfilled. |
