EH&S OH Health Surveillance Protocol

This Business Scenario Map describes the interaction between the occupational physician in the internal health department and the internal areas IHS Professional and the HR department. The detailed process and how these areas interact is described below.

Within the scope of risk assessment, measurements are made of agents in work areas within the enterprise. These measurements are often repeated at regular intervals. If the measurements show a significant change with respect to the existing measurements, the exposure rating for the work areas affected is changed accordingly.

Human resources often moves employees to new positions as a result of modified shift planning. These positions often involve new tasks with related triggers for health surveillance protocols.

To keep the assignment of persons and health surveillance protocols in the enterprise up-to-date at all times, industrial hygienists run a report program at particular intervals to automatically generate a proposal list. This report takes all changes into account that result from the change to a risk rating or the transfer of employees. The industrial hygienist checks that the content of the proposal list is correct and then opens medical services for the employees.

On the basis of these medical services, the physicians assistant makes appointments at the health center. Here it is possible to take a persons absence times into account directly and the phone number of the person to be examined is displayed to make it easier to arrange an appointment. Once an appointment has been arranged, the invitation letter and any questionnaires linked with the health surveillance protocols can be sent directly to the person to be examined.

In the medical service, the physician can immediately enter any necessary information such as diagnoses, restrictions, medical test results, and medical measures at the time of the examination. This information is used to create medical certificates that can be issued for the employee examined or the HR department.
