Outsourcing Maintenance Services

This Business Scenario Map shows how external know-how and labor can seamlessly be integrated with regular or occasional maintenance services for technical assets. Whether internal know-how or resources are momentarily or permanently unavailable, the outsourcing or contracting of maintenance services can help companies to achieve a higher ROI. It saves the company effort, time and money while streamlining the overall maintenance process.

It shows how maintenance planners, external maintenance service providers and technicians build up a team to ensure the safe and reliable operation of an asset. When setting-up a maintenance plan, the maintenance planner can plan external services by specifying an external workplace inside the company, or by outsourcing the service as a whole. After scheduling the plan, an order (or a notification) is released, and the external service partners find the specified work in a worklist and can plan it in time. After performing the maintenance work, the external maintenance technicians can make the relevant confirmations for the order. For this purpose, they can use the Cross Application Time Sheet (CATS) as an Internet service. The external service provider (and the maintenance planner) can monitor the progress and, finally, the maintenance planner completes the order. At any stage of the process, each party involved can document comments or specify problems in a notification.
