To enhance the value of SAP Certification for both consultants and customers, a new system featuring different certification levels has been introduced.

In the new scheme, there will be three levels of certification offered, to ensure that certification becomes a true measure of individual competency for use in recruiting, engaging and retraining. We feel it is important to recognise more experienced SAP professionals who have put their expertise into practice.

The certification previously offered by SAP will correspond to the ASSOCIATE level. Additional certifications are also available for Senior Consultant (Professional Certification) and Principal Consultant (Master Certification) roles, and have been designed to assess actual implementation experience. Where appropriate, these certifications will also involve third-party knowledge and industry accreditation.

The Professional Certification is aimed at those with at least three to five years practical, hands-on experience, whereas Master certification is likely to involve practical testing as well as interviews and written tests, and is aimed at those with 5 plus years experience.

The understanding of the system capabilities for certification is covered in the scheduled training courses run at SAP, but these new exams will be best attempted after a number of projects as they focus on the practical application of this knowledge – not just the ‘what’, but also the ‘how’ and ‘when’ it can and should be applied.
